And it was the same story when we worked together in the White House.
While Jill Biden has insisted on being called ‘Doctor’, Melania
was admired and beloved by the political and permanent staffers alike, asking after their children by name, welcoming them to events big and small, and treating
them with inclusivity and respect.

Known as a protective and present mother, Melania now uses
her memoir to call out the ‘sheer malice’ of unfunny comic Rosie O’Donnell who, in 2016, tweeted despicable and totally unfounded claims about Barron, then aged 10.

It was just weeks after Trump had stunned the world and won, and the same liberal media and
Hollywood types, who perpetuated every vicious attack against him, reveled as O’Donnell’s vile lie wormed its way across social media.

It was a shock to see such naked cruelty towards a First Child, especially when so many
of us had treated Chelsea Clinton and the Obama daughters like Fabergé eggs.
Kids (including mine) should always be off limits.

I’ve known and worked alongside Melania for many years,
and regard her as a friend. (Pictured together in 2018 visiting Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center).

Earlier this year, Melania and I lost our mothers just weeks apart.
Even as she navigated her loss in public view, Melania made every effort to be there for me.

She and President Trump called, sent flowers, handwritten notes and checked in with

But instead of going to war, Melania acted swiftly and tenderly to shield her son. She channeled maternal
outrage into a first lady’s focus on initiatives centered around children’s wellness and cyberbullying awareness.
Her ‘Be Best’ campaign remains a highlight of her time in office.

Melania has never been one for preening and posturing. Other first ladies used
their roles to land on the cover of fashion magazines, but she did so on her
own, years before, as a successful model.

Even when I’ve suggested she push back on myriad false claims made by the media or ungrateful former staffers who have returned her trust in them with self-serving lies and revisionist history, she has declined,
knowing that her silence is always more powerful.

Behind closed doors, Trump has, for decades, regarded his wife as a top confidante and counselor.
Whether as an international business mogul, a TV star or,
lately, leader of the free world, it is Melania’s opinion that he has consistently sought.

Trump enjoys the company of plenty of friends, taking a range of advice, but he
speaks of – and to – Melania in an entirely unique way. Really,
he fears yet reveres her. He respects her independence,
seeks her input, trusts her keen eye, sharp ear and sense of people.

I have witnessed their relationship up close,
and it is one fundamentally built on mutual love and respect.

Recently, as Barron was heading off for college
and Melania was preparing to publish her memoir, I jokingly asked Trump how it might feel to be the second most popular man and the second most prominent author in the household.
He chuckled and relented.

Melania Trump has plenty to say and nothing to prove.
She is not a typical political spouse rushing to the cameras on matters
that are best handled privately, or loudly offering insights or slights about her
husband’s political opponents à la Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama.

She is an asset, a partner, an equal who is neither trying
to control – looking at you, Jill Biden – nor controlled by her partner.

She is what many feminists insist they are: independent,
a product of her own choices, comfortable in her own skin.

She has been by Trump’s side the entire time. Though never in his shadow.
In fact, from that very first moment they descended the golden escalator, she’s been leading the way.

The pop superstar, 38, is preparing to release her seventh album, with fans hoping this will lead to

However, a Live Nation spokesperson confirmed:
‘There is no 2025 tour planned.’

The Sun reports that Lady Gaga will instead tour in 2026.

single, with links to Spotify and Apple Music, on Monday.

The Star is Born actress also shared a photo of what appeared to be

Joe Aston got the kind of book launch every first
time author dreams of – massive amounts of free publicity online, in newspapers and on TV and radio. 

And it was all thanks to Anthony Albanese’s ill-informed attack on Aston over what was written in his
book, The Chairman’s Lounge – The Inside Story of
how Qantas sold us out.

Despite the resultant terrible publicity – which has led to him being called ‘upgrade Albo’
– and calls for an inquiry, Aston told Daily Mail Australia his book is ‘not
a hit job on Anthony Albanese’.

Aston insisted he’s ‘not trying to get a scalp’, but reiterated that the
Prime Minister ‘had a direct line to Alan Joyce’.

The book claims Mr Albanese got 22 upgrades from economy on Qantas flights by personally requesting
them from the airline’s then CEO Mr Joyce – which the Prime Minister has categorically denied.

According to unnamed Qantas ‘insiders’, 11 of the 22 flights Mr Albanese got
upgrades for were ‘privately funded’ and included overseas trips
to Rome, London, Los Angeles and Honolulu. 

But instead of addressing the claim, Mr Albanese chose to shoot the messenger and, in turn, shot himself in the foot. 

He said Aston was using the accusations to sell books and said he was hiding
his employment history. 

‘I don’t see declarations that he’s a former Liberal Party staffer… I don’t
see declarations he’s a former Qantas employee,’ the Prime Minister said. 

But before the book even gets to the contents page there is a photo of Aston that refers to him as the then-Qantas corporate communications senior adviser.

And the first chapter of the book reveals that he worked for then-Liberal MP Bruce Baird, who held the southern Sydney seat of Cook before Scott Morrison. 

‘My professional history is not a secret or not disclosed, it’s in the first
line of the first page of the book,’ Aston said on Tuesday night, just before his
book launch. 

Though he was grateful for the free publicity Mr Albanese’s response gave the book, Aston was
still ‘staggered’ at the untrue claims about him the Prime Minister made. 

‘He’s under enormous pressure and I know, I’ve seen this many times with public figures and leaders who struggle to see
their own part in it, the terrible circumstances that they create,’ he said.

Asked if Mr Albanese had been poorly advised in his attack, Aston, who is a former
Australian Financial Review columnist, wonders if the Prime Minister ‘even listens to advice at this point’.

‘All he’s doing is talking around the issue and he’s blaming me and he’s blaming
other MP’s for also taking upgrades (on Qantas flights).

‘He’s avoiding the only thing that he can’t talk about, which is, did you ask Qantas
for confirmed upgrades on your private holidays when you were
the Transport Minister? The answer is “yes” and he’s desperately trying to avoid
saying it.’

Smelling blood, Opposition leader Peter Dutton said the Prime Minister should refer himself to the anti-corruption commission over the flight upgrades.

Coming on top of Mr Albanese’s tone deaf purchase of a $4.3million clifftop mansion while so
many people are struggling to pay their mortgage or rent, the latest blow to his credibility has led to calls for him to resign.

Aston refuses to be drawn on this, though. 

‘I never expected this (part of the book) to even this
part to get this far. I really am shocked at
how it’s blown up.

‘So to the extent that it has, I would say …
anyone who reads the book will learn that this book is not a hit
job on Anthony Albanese. This book is about Qantas. 

‘Anthony Albanese is an example of how Qantas influences politicians
on both sides of the aisle, Labor, Liberal, National,
you name it. They’ve been doing it for more than a generation.

‘They’re the best influence peddler in Australia.
I’m not here trying to get a scalp. That’s not what this book is about and it never
was.’

But the conversation Daily Mail Australia had with Aston mirrors
the conversations being had across Australia and eventually winds up
back on Mr Albanese. 

‘Even I’ve underestimated how fed up the public is with
the freebie mindset of politicians,’ he said.

‘And unfortunately for Albanese, he’s been in politics a long time and that kind of
behaviour is quite normalised to him, is what
I’ve seen. 

‘I mean, he loves the free concert tickets and sitting
at the front row of the Australian Open Tennis. 

‘I went to the Australian Open Tennis as a journalist almost every year for 12
years and he was the only Prime Minister (I saw there).

‘Those tickets are worth thousands of dollars to sit in the front row of the International Grand Slam.
He’s the first Prime Minister who I’ve ever seen do that.

‘That to me is a sign that he doesn’t quite get what it looks like to others when he’s
on the gravy train. And I think (the claims in the book
are) just another example of that.’

In Australian politics it’s regular practise for an MP’s
travel to be booked in economy, then someone
in their office phones the airline and asks if their flight can be upgraded. 

The difference with the Prime Minister is that ‘he had a very direct line to Alan Joyce,’ Aston said.

‘The other thing is there’s a difference between an upgrade where
it’s in the booking and if the seat’s empty when the flight closes, you’ll get upgraded.

‘This is different. This is a confirmed upgrade where the ticket is
converted and you are guaranteed. You’re not going to the airport
crossing your fingers going “Geez, I hope there is a spare seat”.

‘You’re guaranteed. You turn up knowing you’re getting a seat and the only person at Qantas who can issue those types of upgrades is the CEO.
No other executive can do that.

‘So it is beyond question that Alan joints authorised these upgrades (for Anthony
Albanese).’

Aston enjoyed many upgrades to the pointy end of planes during his time as a travel
journalist, and understands the attraction for politicians to
get up there. 

‘These things are tempting and it’s human nature too.
Once you’ve experienced the front of the plane, it’s very hard to go back.

‘For politicians, they run around with all these staff and they’ve got
chauffeured cars and they fly in business, but they
don’t get paid like CEOs …

‘They’re not in a situation where they can afford to go flying
around in the front of the plane on personal travel. 

‘A normal person would say “Therefore I won’t (fly business class). But (for politicians) it’s a culture of entitlement.’

Aston is careful to point out that most people would say politicians are ‘very well paid compared to the average worker’.

But that doesn’t stop some MPs from desperately seeking a free ride, whether it’s a flight upgrade, concert tickets or the executive box at sporting events. 

Late on Wednesday night, a spokeswoman Mr Albanese said ‘The Prime Minister did not ever call Alan Joyce seeking an upgrade’.

‘All travel has been appropriately declared and is a matter of public record.’

The pilot was earlier scheduled to run in Austin, Texas, in the second quarter, for which the company reported results on the day.

The company declined to comment on why the launch had been delayed.

Philip Morris has invested billions to promote and expand its portfolio of alternatives to traditional combustible cigarettes amid stricter regulations and
falling smoking rates in some markets.

The launch of its flagship heated tobacco device in the United States
is also facing resistance from health campaigners, who have written to regulators in the country accusing the company of misrepresenting past regulatory decisions, Reuters reported last week.

The company also awaits market authorization from the U.S.
Food and Drug Administration for its IQOS ILUMA device, which it expects by the second half of 2025.

A ban on flavored heated tobacco in the European Union has already hit shipments this year, with Philip Morris saying the impact from
the ban was “slightly greater” than previously assumed.

This led the company to temper its expectations for volume growth in the heated tobacco category
to around 13% for the full year, down from between 14% and
16% expected earlier.

However, Philip Morris topped quarterly expectations and raised its annual sales
and profit forecasts, betting on demand for its
Zyn nicotine pouches, as well as higher cigarette pricing.

July 20 (Reuters) – Philip Morris International beat analysts’ expectations for quarterly profit and raised the lower end of its annual earnings forecast, as tobacco and labor costs ease, and demand remains robust for its smokeless Zyn and IQOS
products.

In December last year, Philip Morris acquired Hay-maker Swedish Match for a share of the popular smokeless and spitless nicotine pouches as younger customers increasingly prefer alternatives
to traditional combustible cigarettes.

Shipment volume growth for Zyn in the U.S. jumped more than 50% in the three
months ended June 30, the company said on Thursday.

From mid-2024, Philip Morris will have the sole rights to market
and sell IQOS products – which heat cigarettes instead of burning them – in the U.S., as per its deal with Altria Group .

Total IQOS users at the end of June were up by 1.4 million from March, the company said,
taking the total number to 27.2 million.

Its second-quarter adjusted profit per share of $1.60 beat analysts’ average estimates for a profit of $1.47, as per Refinitiv data.

Net revenue rose 14.5% to $8.97 billion, topping estimates of $8.65 billion.

The 176-year old company is also benefiting from higher prices
for its traditional combustible cigarettes, after supply-chain snags inflated freight and
raw-material costs last year.

Philip Morris now expects these pressures to ease in the second half of the year, allowing the company to raise the
lower-end of its full-year profit forecast.

The company boosted the lower end to $6.13 per share from $6.10, while retaining the upper
end at $6.22.

March 24 (Reuters) – Marlboro maker Philip Morris International Inc is working
on options to exit the Russian market, citing a complex and rapidly changing regulatory
and operating environment in the country following its invasion of Ukraine.

The company, which garnered around 6% its net revenue
from Russia in 2021, said on Thursday it has discontinued sale of several cigarette
products and canceled all product launches for the year in Russia.

It has also canceled plans to make over
20 billion TEREA sticks, heated tobacco units intended for use with its IQOS ILUMA
devices, as well as related investment of $150 million.

Earlier this month, Philip Morris had suspended its planned investments and decided to scale
down manufacturing operations in the country.

Rival Imperial Brands too has started talks to transfer its Russian business to a local third party, joining BAT in exiting the sanction-hit country.

Quinzel aka Harley Quinn.

Jon M. Chu and Ridley Scott were also surprise omissions from the Best Director
– Motion Picture category, despite respective blockbusters Wicked and Gladiator II enjoying enormous box office success. 

The filmmaker behind Dune: Part Two, Denis Villeneuve,
also failed to receive a nod in the directing category. 

Saoirse Ronan was another notable snub, failing to receive Golden Globe recognition for her films
The Outrun and Blitz. The film Blitz also did not garner
any nods.

and Erik Menendez Story, was also left out of the nominations, however his co-stars

Michael Keaton’s Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice performance was
also unable to cast a spell on the Golden Globe decision makers, with the star failing to
receive a nod for the sequel. 

The box office hit Deadpool & Wolverine also failed to
receive a nomination in the Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy category, however it did earn a nod for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.

Jonathan Bailey from Wicked also did not receive a nomination. 

The 82nd Golden Globes will take place at the Beverly
Hilton in Los Angeles on January 5, hosted by Nikki Glaser – the first woman to solo host the awards. 

While Lopez, Streep, and others were snubbed from the Golden Globes, a slew of other stars and projects did receive nods.  

Nominations for the 2025 ceremony were announced Monday morning, with Wicked stars Ariana Grande
and Cynthia Erivo both receiving nominations for their work in the musical film.

as does Zoe Saldana – again, for Emilia Perez.

Elsewhere Demi Moore has been acknowledged for her starring role alongside Qualley in The Substance, earning herself nomination for Best Female
Actor – Motion Picture – Musical/Comedy.

Also garnering a nod, Grande’s Wicked co-star Arivo has been richly rewarded for her role as green-skinned witch-in-the-making Elphaba.

British Netflix drama Baby Reindeer has also been acknowledged, with the Richard Gadd written show
featuring in the category for Best Limited Series, Anthology Series or Television Motion Picture
and its lead actress Jessica Gunning named as Best Supporting Female Actor –
Television.

The show will compete alongside the hugely popular Ripley, controversial biopic Monsters:
The Lyle And Erik Menendez Story, True Detective: Night Country, Ripley
and The Penguin.

During the upcoming awards ceremony, Cheers legend Ted Danson will receive the Carol Burnett Award for those who have “made outstanding contributions to television on or off screen” and Viola Davis will be handed the Cecil
B. DeMille Award for achievement in film.
